We use 100% premium soy wax for a clean burn, lead-free cotton wicks, 100% phthalate-free fragrances infused with essential oils, and recyclable packaging and shipping materials. Our candles are petroleum-free, cruelty-free, and 100% vegan.

We chose soy wax as the base for its clean, even burn but even more importantly because it is a renewable resource and carbon neutral, as opposed to coconut wax which is a leading cause of deforestation, or paraffin wax which is derived from petroleum. 

Our fragrance is infused with essential oils and are 100% phthalate-free. Phthalates are what makes plastic flexible, and many candle manufacturers use them to enhance scent throw. But they have also been linked to a host of health issues, and we felt it was imperative to ensure that our products were completely free of these potential risks. We use a combination of natural, essential oils and man-made oils - the use of essential oils can sometimes limit the scent throw, but we felt it was a priority to use as many natural ingredients as possible so you can feel good about the air you breathe. Additionally, we want our candles to enhance - not overwhelm - your space, so they're designed to be buildable to your preferences.

We use 100% cotton wicks free from metal cores. Lead-cored wicks are known to cause lead poisoning, and there are similar concerns about zinc-cored wicks, so 100% cotton was the way to go!

Even our packaging is environmentally-friendly. We try to use as many recyclable or biodegradable packaging materials as possible - for instance, our packing peanuts are compostable as they are made from cornmeal. Any time we do use plastic, it's being repurposed from packing materials our suppliers have sent to us so we can at least help to reduce additional plastic from being created. 

Trim your wick to ¼” before each burn, and allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the container before extinguishing. This is roughly 3 to 4 hours for our 10 oz candles and 2 to 3 hours for our votive candles. This will allow for an even burn, and prevent dreaded tunneling.

To prevent fire and serious injury, burn your candle within sight and away from drafts. Remove all packaging before use. Do not use if glass is cracked or damaged. Keep away from flammable material, children, and pets.

Yes! They can be repurposed in multiple ways! 

1.) If you bring your used glass vessel to our studio, we offer a 10% discount towards the purchase of your next same size candle!

2.) We also love using cleaned out jars as pretty storage containers for makeup brushes, random household items, planters, etc.  

3.) Conventional recycling methods

Because we use a large concentration of natural essential oils in our fragrances, the scent throw can be more intimate in comparison to other synthetic-heavy candle suppliers. This is heavily dependent on your sensitivity to fragrance though - most of us are anosmic to some degree to specific fragrances materials meaning we lack the ability to perceive them. Conversely, some of us are highly sensitive to fragrance and can detect it even in the smallest quantities - there really is no one-size-fits-all product, which is why we felt it was important to prioritize using natural ingredients that protected your health and environment.  

Our candles are designed to enhance, not overpower, your space - to ensure that your space is well-scented, we suggest using each product as follows:

Small Spaces: 3 oz Votive candle

Medium Spaces: 10 oz Medium Tumbler

Large Spaces: 26 oz Candle Bowl (coming soon!). We might also suggest burning two or more 10 oz candles in larger spaces.

Burn Time

When burning according to our recommended instructions:

10 oz Medium Tumbler: approximately 60 hours

3 oz Votive: approximately 20 hours

26 oz Candle Bowl (coming soon!): approximately 130 hours

At The County Candle Co., all of our products are carefully inspected before they are shipped. Due to the nature of our products, used candles cannot be returned or refunded. However, we will replace or refund products damaged during shipment if photographic proof of damage is submitted to us within 7 days of delivery.  

You may also exchange your product for another candle of the same size and price within 14 days of purchase. The buyer is responsible for shipping cost on all return items.

In the event the package is damaged during shipping you may return your unused candle(s) for a full refund of your purchase price, less shipping ad handling within 14 days of delivery. Pls contact us at info@thecountycandleco.com for further details.

All orders are generally processed within 1 to 3 business days. We've negotiated rates with major carriers for fast, reliable service. Typical shipping times are between 1-5 business days in Canada and 5-7 business days in USA.

Please note: once a package is shipped, the tracking information is outside of our control, and much as we'd like to be there, final delivery is out of our hands. We are currently unable to replace missing or stolen packages.

Orders outside of Canada may be charged applicable duties, fees and taxes by the shipping carrier that are outside the control of The County Candle Co.

We work with a logistics partner to fulfill your online orders, which means that we will try out best to cancel or make changes to your order, however there is no guarantee.
